A 6" sub, no matter how loaded, will not fill you up. The 12", however, is daunting; no one needs that much sandwich. I feel pressured to eat all 12" and often wind up too full. My solution: Subway should make 9" subs. "However will they do that? The system is based on 12" rolls cut in half to make 2 6" rolls," you ask? I have given this careful thought and here are the options:
- Cut off 3" and donate the remainders to food kitchens
(a'la the muffin top) - Cut off 3" and offer a 3" sub
- Just bake a damn 9" roll!

Don't go to Subway - easy solution! I think their bread smells weird, I don't like it!
The sub place by me Quiznos (and yes it is an american franchise in Belfast) has small, medium and large sizes to choose from. I think this should help your dilemma!

We have a Quiznos right next to my building but, for some reason, I never go there. I decided to go there last week and, when I walked in, they told me they were closed. Maybe I will give them another chance.

Project description for eating 9" subs when 9" sub is not industry standard:
Day 1: order a 12" sub. Eat 3/4, put 1/4 away in work fridge.
Day 2: order a 12" sub, eat 3/4, put 1/4 away in woprk fridge.
Day 3: order a 12" sub, eat 3/4, put 1/4 away in work fridge.
Day 4: eat all 3 3/4 subs left over from days 1,2,3, and 4. Marilyn Vos Savant says this is teh way to do it. Heloise says, "I like to wrap my sandwich up and label it with marker before I put it away as leftovers."
Quiznos is much better than Subway! Definitely give it another try. You get pretty much the same degree of freedom in choosing the contents of your sub, but the bread is better, and they grill it up nicely as well. Unfortunately, people in Japan don't eat sandwiches this way. I happen to live across from the only Subway within about 50 miles. And there is no Quiznos at all. I have taken to imitating their subs in the toaster-oven, but you can't even get the right kind of bread here.
As for 9-inch subs, why not find another person who feels the same way, and split three 6-inches?
Anyway, at Subway, can't you buy those little round sandwiches as well? Just buy three of those, or a 6 inch and one of those. Much better than eating a 3-day-old, refrigerated heel of a sandwich.
I can't tell all of you how much it means that people from all over the world have offered their advice to me during this trying time. I just wanted to let all of you know that I went to Quiznos and it was delicious! Thank you for your kind support.
I am very small and therefore am much more comfortable with the notion of a 3 inch sub.
Thank you for your consideration.
And support.
